Willem Hollmann, an alum from our department and Lecturer in Linguistics and English Language up the road at Lancaster University, is this week’s speaker in the Langwidge Sandwidge (1pm, S.2.2, Samuel Alexander Building). He’ll be speaking on ‘Being “cool” while doing something: The grammaticalisation of “lie” into a progressive aspect marker‘ while you enjoy hot and cold drinks, biscuits, and your (self-provided) sandwiches.
