Manchester to host semantics conference

Manchet is pleased to report that the department has won a bid to host the 6th conference on the Semantics of Underrepresented Languages of the Americas in 2011. This conference, started in 2001 at Umass, has quickly become one of the more important venues for work in semantics on less studied languages. The conference will be organized by Martina Faller and Andrew Koontz-Garboden and the hordes of Manchester linguists they plan to convince to help them, if need be using their recently acquired powers of hypnosis (who knew this was part of the training for new academics??)… Watch out.
