New postdocs

An abundance of brilliant new postdocs have recently been awarded to our department. Here’s a quick summary, courtesy of Eva Schultze-Berndt, of the new projects and people we’ll be seeing around.

Serge Sagna. Postdoctoral Fellow with a personal grant from the ELDP (Endangered Languages Documentation Program) to work on “The documentation of the Gújjolaay Eegimaa, an Atlantic-BAK Jóola Language of Senegal”. (Eva Schultze-Berndt is the mentor for this fellowship).

Frances Kofod. Main researcher on ELDP (Endangered Languages Documentation Program) Major Documentation Project “The painter’s eye, the painter’s voice: Language, art and landscape in the Gija world” (Eva Schultze-Berndt, PI). Gija belongs to the neighbouring lg group to the Jaminjungan lgs). Frances will work a lot of the time from Australia, though we look forward to seeing her around Manchester from time-to-time as well.

Claudia Wegener. Postdoctoral researcher on Volkswagen grant “Documentation of Savosavo, a Papuan language of the Solomon island” (Eva Schultze-Berndt, PI).

Felicity Meakins. Postdoctoral Fellow with a personal grant from the ELDP (Endangered Languages Documentation Program) to work on the documentation of Gurindji Kriol, a mixed language of Australia. (Yaron Matras is the mentor for this Fellowship).
