Yaron Matras has been invited to deliver a keynote address at a conference of EU officers and delegates entrusted with drafting policy aiming at the integration of one of Europe’s largest and most marginalised minorities, the Roma. The event will takes place in Brussels on 10 March and will be attended by representatives of various EU directorates, civil servants from the member states, and delegates from non-governmental organisations representing the Romani population. Matras’s speech will focus on how to bridge research with policy making. Matras is the editor of the leading research journal in the field, Romani Studies (published by Liverpool University Press), and has been coordinating the Romani Project at the department since 1998.
