Have you ever heard of SLI?

Gina Conti-Ramsden, from the School of Psychological Sciences here in Manchester, has teamed up with colleagues from across the country to launch a new initiative, RALLI. The initiative aims to raise awareness of Specific Language Impairment (SLI) by means of a Youtube channel and media campaign.

At a talk at Manchester’s LinguistMix yesterday, Professor Conti-Ramsden outlined the peculiar situation: while almost everyone knows what autism is, few have even heard of SLI, despite the fact that its prevalence is much greater. Find out more about RALLI in the video below, and take a look at the Youtube channel for more information about SLI.

You can also find a recent article by project member Dorothy Bishop (Oxford) in the TES.
