On Tuesday 5th March, ILLS will be treated to a talk by Jenneke van der Wal (Cambridge), with the title Subordinate clauses and exclusive focus in Makhuwa: no independent information structure?

Makhuwa is a Bantu language spoken in Mozambique, and Jenneke has carried out extensive fieldwork on the language (find out more about it here). She is also one of the increasing number of linguists working on the relationship between syntax and information structure. Join us in Ellen Wilkinson A2.16 from 4.15pm for what promises to be a fascinating talk!
