PDS accolade for Allan

Pioneering postgraduate semanticist Allan Callister has had his achievements recognized through the award of a President’s Doctoral Scholarship (PDS). Like many good things in life, this scholarship takes the form of an extra injection of cash, to the tune of £1k per year to top up his existing funding. Congratulations, Allan!

And that’s not all: Allan has also been allotted some UMRI pump-priming funding for fieldwork on his chosen language, Mandinka. In June he’ll be spending four weeks in Gambia collecting data and exploring potentially interesting phenomena which relate to the literature regarding indexicals. The funding was awarded collectively to the Indexicals reading group, a cross-School collaboration between LEL and Philosophy. Manchet wishes him the best of luck on his adventure!
