Yuni Kim crosses the Channel

Yuni Kim has been visiting our cheese-eating allies in France, as part of a workshop on Tons et paradigmes flexionnels : modélisation et parcimonie / Disentangling the inflectional role of tone, in Paris on 17th-18th June. She’s been talking about her work on Stem allomorphy, tone stability, and tonal overwriting in Amuzgo person/number inflection. In Amuzgo de San Pedro Amuzgos, an Otomanguean language of Mexico on which Yuni has worked, tone plays a crucial role in person marking; the trick is to establish the division of labour between phonology, morphology and the lexicon.

Manchet hopes that Yuni enjoyed her trip!
