Our students are the best

Our third-year undergraduates have accomplished some great stuff this year, like earning the award for Peer Mentoring Scheme of the Year, getting published in the Guardian, and forming one quarter of the winning University Challenge team. Our third years’ work has also been all over the media. And, as the third-years approach their graduation ceremony, Manchet has two more achievements to plug.

The indefatigable Meaghan Couture has just had an article about her experiences of Manchester as a university city published online on QS Top Universities. Meaghan has been taking full advantage of Manchester’s opportunities all year, and it’s nice to see her give the city a good write-up.

Meanwhile, Naomi Proszynska, previously featured on Manchet for her work on Victoria Beckham’s phonemes, has been awarded an Outstanding Academic Achievement Award! These things are for genuine high-achievers and are like gold dust, being distributed to only the top 0.5% of graduating students across the University. LEL itself doesn’t have much money for prizes, so we’re pleased to see Naomi gain a cash reward from the University for her exceptional performance, which included an outstanding dissertation on evidentiality in Tariana.

Manchet congratulates Meaghan, Naomi and all our graduating undergraduates, and wishes them all the best with whatever they decide to do next in life. Keep following Manchet to find out what’s going on in the department – don’t be a stranger!
