Postgridiots return!

In the brand-new first series of Postgridiots, last year, viewers followed a plucky band of linguistics postgraduate students as they self-organized in order to teach each other things that the evil authorities didn’t want them to know. Our heroes were taken on a rollercoaster ride through politeness theory, palaeography, philosophy of science, and everything in between, culminating in an epic showdown with linguistic theory’s evil underbelly (which I won’t spoil for you, in case you haven’t already seen it).

This year the critically acclaimed show is back for a second series of high-octane linguistic action. You can find a full episode listing here. The cast list has undergone some changes: veterans Laura Arman, James W. R. Brookes, Nathan Duckett, Míša Hejná, Rebecca Jackson, and James Murphy are staying on for the second series, but they’re joined by promising newcomers Fernanda Barrientos, Ying Fan, and Alice Young, among others.

The first instalment, in which James Murphy takes on Speech Act Theory, airs on Thursday 26th September, at 1pm in the SALC Graduate School Training Room, Ellen Wilkinson building. Rated R for explicit language, strong perlocutionary effects, and occasional nudity (not confirmed). Manchet encourages you to tune in!
