Ultrafestivities

This Wednesday, LEL PhD student and busy bee Danielle Turton will be presenting a poster at Ultrafest: improbably, an entire conference devoted to ultrasound research in linguistics.

Danielle’s poster is on Contextual patterns of /l/-darkening in accents of English.

Other talks on the programme range from language documentation and cultural heritage to language disorders and biomechanical devices. There’s also a session on comparing tongue curves. (Personally, Manchet has always had trouble doing that thing where the two sides of the tongue touch at the top.) It seems that Edinburgh is the place to be this week for the top tongue experts!
