Social responsibility in the curriculum

Posted on April 15, 2014 by

Laurel MacKenzie has received a Social Responsibility in the Curriculum grant!

The grant, funded by the Humanities External Relations Committee (HERC), will be used to initiate an educational outreach project with local schools involving the dialect maps website. Students enrolled in Language Variation and Change will have the opportunity go into English Language A-level classes and teach pupils about dialect diversity using the maps. This will be happening in semester 2 of 2014-15, in conjunction with LELA20072. The grant money will reimburse students’ travel expenses and fund updates and maintenance of the maps website.

You can read more about the original research here. Many congratulations to Laurel and to her students!
