David Denison, LEL’s Smith Professor of English Language and Medieval Literature, has been elected as a Fellow of the British Academy!

David, who recently gave an invited lecture on parts of speech at the British Academy, joins a small group of UK linguists to have been honoured in this way, including Manchester emeritus Nigel Vincent. This is the second great honour for David this year, as he was earlier awarded an honorary doctorate from Uppsala complete with laurel wreath. Evidently those particular laurels were not rested upon. Manchet looks on in awe.
