Even more ways of analyzing variation

As usual, Manchester is sending a squad to New Ways of Analyzing Variation 43 in Illinois this October (check out the line-up for previous years). Here’s the run-down:

  • Danielle Turton and Maciej Baranowski: T[ʉ] c[ʉɫ] for sch[ʉɫ]: the interaction of /l/-darkening and /u/-fronting in Manchester
  • Maciej Baranowski: The NORTH-FORCE merger in Manchester
  • Laurel MacKenzie: Testing the predictions of usage-based models on language change across the lifespan
  • PhD alumna Dorothea Hoffmann, now at Chicago: Deixis in MalakMalak: A case of language change in an endangered language (poster)
