From Linguistics to Computer Science to John Lewis

LEL alumna Sophie Koonin, who graduated in Linguistics in 2013, has had her story featured on The Tech Partnership website as part of the #mytechstory campaign. You can read about her journey from Linguistics to Computer Science, and her subsequent successful application to the John Lewis Graduate Scheme.

Sophie writes:

I had studied Linguistics at university, and loved it – but although it gave me lots of transferable skills, there wasn’t a clear-cut career path mapped out in front of me.

Sophie’s story is a great example of one of the many routes open to people who graduate from LEL: the combination of traditional Humanities-style critical thinking with more formal, technical, and quantitative skills means that few doors are closed to our graduates. The difficult part is deciding!
