Danielle Turton, English phonology expert extraordinaire and LEL PhD alum, has been featured in the Chronicle, giving her opinion on the portrayal of the Geordie accent in the US TV series Castle.
Danielle knows what she’s talking about: not only is she extremely knowledgeable about phonological variation generally, but she has also had the chance to become closely acquainted with Geordie and Geordies in her permanent role as lecturer at Newcastle. Thanks for setting the record straight, Danielle!
