In the field, around the world

The latest issue of Arts Research – the School’s magazine focusing on exciting research being carried out by SALC staff – features a full-page exposé on the many LEL researchers involved in linguistic fieldwork around the world. It’s safe to say that this is an area in which LEL at Manchester is internationally outstanding.

Yuni Kim, Andrew Koontz-Garboden, Martina Faller, Yaron Matras, Eva Schultze-Berndt and Delia Bentley are all featured in the article, as is recent postdoc and globetrotter Ryan Bochnak. Here’s an excerpt:

The results of these linguistic fieldwork projects thus serve not only to bring new data to bear on current linguistic theory, but also to provide a voice for underrepresented communities.
