LEL PhD students Deepthi Gopal and Stephen Nichols were in Düsseldorf this week for the Old World Conference on Phonology 2017, presenting a paper on Sonorant-conditioned mid vowel lowering in Turkish.
They were joined by Yang Li, an alumnus of our BA English Language programme (2013), now a PhD student at Cambridge. His talk was on Complete and incomplete neutralisation in Fuzhou tone sandhi.
Kudos to all involved for pushing back the limits of our knowledge!
