This week Ricardo Bermúdez-Otero will be in Bloomington as a guest of the Linguistics Department of Indiana University. Today (Tuesday 19 September) Ricardo will be giving two talks. In the early afternoon we will be addressing the phonetics and phonology reading group on the topic of ‘The allophony of English /aɪ/ reconsidered’. In the early evening he will give a paper as part of the IU Linguistics Consortium Colloquia Series, which this autumn focuses on the theme ‘phonological change and adaptation’. The ground has been prepared for Ricardo’s talk with an introductory lecture (29 August) and two reading group meetings (5 and 12 September). The paper bears the title ‘Modular restrictions on paradigm extension’.
