Last week, LEL lecturer Maciej Baranowski presented a paper at the NWAV conference, together with Danielle Turton, a former LEL UG & PhD student (who is currently based in Newcastle University). This year, NWAV (the largest conference in variationist sociolinguistics) took place in in Madison, Wisconsin.

The paper Baranowski and Turton presented is called The FOOT-STRUT vowels in Manchester: Evidence for the diachronic precursor to the split?. The abstract can be found here.
