Winter travels for Manchester linguists

While most of us focus on eggnog, turkey and the Doctor Who Christmas special, Manchester linguists show no signs of slowing down.

Vera Hohaus is in Göttingen this week, giving a talk at the Oberseminar English Linguistics (Syntax–Semantics). Her presentation is on “The syntax of embedding and the temporal interpretation of attitude complements”, and you can find the abstract here.

January is looking very busy for Eva Schultze-Berndt, who is going to give a talk on mimesis and ideophones at the Linguistic Society of America Annual Meeting in New York, followed by an invited course on ‘Competing motivations and competing explanations in the typology of constituent order and grammatical relations’ at the LOT Winter School in Amsterdam.
