Postcard from Martina

Greetings from Cusco, Manchet!

For the last two weeks, I’ve been in Cusco, Peru, on holiday. Walking steps (at 3200m altitude) keeps me fit and rewards me with amazing views. While not doing fieldwork this time round, I’ve met up with Quechua-speaking friends and have been able to confirm some data from previous fieldwork. I’m also collecting any data I come across in the wild, such as the Quechua version of signs in a textiles museum. Street names are fun, too: the one in the photo, Atoqsayk’uchiy means “making the fox tired”. If you ever get walk up that street, you’ll realise the appropriateness of its name!
All the best,
