Postcard from Marije

Hello from a sunny and tropical Manchester,

This week I am teaching a module on Intercultural Communication as part of the Manchester International Summer School (MISS2019). Together with 23 students from China, I am exploring the ins and outs of Intercultural Communication advice, the link between language and culture, language choice in multicultural contexts, and research methods in intercultural communication research. In addition, we will be doing field work to see if there are any differences in responding to thanks in a vibrant and multicultural city such as Manchester, as opposed to a more traditional, English, rural town on the border of the peak district. I’ll keep you posted on the results.

All the best,

Marije and the participants of MISS 2019
