28th Manchester Phonology Meeting

The Manchester Phonology Meeting is upon us, and even though it’s in Manchester only in spirit, it seems to be having its usual effect of bringing in nice weather. The conference, now on its 28th edition, is a firm fixture in the phonological conference calendar. This year, among 45 oral papers there is a presentation by LEL’s Kaiyue Xing and Patrycja Strycharczuk on rhoticity in Mandarin, as well as a talk by a former colleague Yuni Kim (now at Essex) on nasal shielding in Amuzgo. Another Manchester connection is PhD alumnus Mike Ramsammy (now Edinburgh), co-presenting with Gillian Marchini on Vowel Compression, Stress and Rhythm in Altiplateau Mexican Spanish.
