LEL’s Julio Villa-García spoke at the The World of Languages and Languages of the World (WoLLoW) conference in Birmingham yesterday. WoLLoW is a new initiative that encourages primary school students to engage with language in new ways. The conference, hosted by King Edward’s School was on “The teaching of languages in a multilingual society”. Julio spoke on ‘Lessons from linguistics: recycling knowledge of linguistics in the language classroom’. The word is that Julio was an enthusiastic presenter and that the conference was a great success.
