Linguistic necromancy for the uninitiated

George Walkden has written a blog post about linguistic reconstruction, which is currently featured on OUP Academic’s blog.

The post introduces language families and what it means to reconstruct linguistic features, before a brief mention of syntactic reconstruction – the topic of George’s recent book Syntactic Reconstruction and Proto-Germanic. If you’re unfamiliar with this field of linguistic research, take a look!
